Did you know that at the University of Florida:

  • University policy is formulated by the Board of Trustees, a group of business managers and investors appointed by Jeb Bush with no experience in education and who do not even live in Gainesville?
  •

  • The university administration intimidates and stifles dissent from faculty and students?
  •

  • The administration spends resources spying on student organizations?
  •

  • The administration knowingly tolerates racist and sexist faculty?
  •

  • African Americans are disproportionately denied admission relative to other groups?
  •

  • African Americans comprise only 7% and Hispanics 10% of the total student enrollment, the lowest of any Florida higher education institution?
  •

  • African American faculty are only 2% and Hispanic faculty 3% of the total full time faculty?
  •

  • While President Bernie Machen cuts funding to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, he gets paid the 4th highest salary in the country for a university President ($750,000/year) and is the first in UF history to not live at the subsidized "President's Mansion?"
  •

  • President Machen refuses to comply with public records request law?
  •

  • UF received an "F" grade by an independent reviewer for lack of transparent finances?
  •

  • The administration wasted $500,000 to come up with the slogan "The Foundation for the Gator Nation?"
  •

  • Numerous buildings are named after known sexists and racists like Stephen O'Connell, George Smathers, and J. Wayne Reitz?
  •

  • The administration forcibly took over the University Athletic Association after it was created by students?
  •

  • Gainesville has the highest poverty rate (30%) of any town with a public university?
  •

  • The university is on stolen Native American land and holds the remains of over 2,000 indigenous people against the will of indigenous people?

But there is hope! Join us in taking back our campus now!
